WHY AND HOW AIR FRESHENERS AND SCENTED CANDLES ARE TOXIC

I’m sure you heard that scented anything, especially candles, and air fresheners aren’t good for your health. Well if you haven’t heard, I’m going to tell you that they are actually super detrimental to your body. They contain a boatload of chemicals and toxins that your body does not recognize and has to work super hard to filter them out of your body. But chances are, your liver will not be able to get rid of it all and will just stay in your body causing a lot of health issues. Your liver is everything. It helps to get rid of all the bad junk out of our bodies on a daily basis. So if it has to deal with things like air fresheners, scented candles, scented laundry detergent, make-up, perfume, deodorants, soaps, toothpaste, etc., it will be overworked and inefficient.

So just be mindful that exposure to things like air fresheners and scented candles can be found everywhere. Some of those places are: stores, other people’s homes, school, workplace, etc. You can’t avoid it sometimes and that’s why eliminating them from your home will help your body start getting rid of it more efficiently and work at a more optimum level.

I speak from experience on this matter. I used to be a user of everything scented and toxic. By simply eliminating those things, within a month I could tell the difference in my body. I felt more clear headed and even had more energy. The longer I went without them, the better I felt. I switched over to more natural products and started using essential oils. I stopped getting headaches too, which was a culprit. Now, when I go out and smell anything that is not of natural descent, I get nauseous and even get a twinge of a headache.

The following is an excerpt from Medical Medium which breaks down what happens in your body when you are exposed to these toxins and just how awful they are to your health.

“We think that by using an air freshener, for example, we’re creating a more pleasing environment. Once we unleash that plug-in air freshener, though, our sense of smell instantly becomes disabled. When you’re living in a home or working in an office or other environment with a plug-in air freshener spewing chemical-laden oil into the air, you may not smell it anymore become you’ve become desensitized to that scent.

These chemically scented, vaporized poisons hurt the lungs—their waxy, oily residue builds up in the lung sacs. If you’re someone who doesn’t smoke and yet you love plug-in air fresheners, you’re better off removing your plug-in air freshener and starting to smoke. That’s right; you actually have a better chance of longer-lasting health and vitality without complicated diseases if you smoke cigarettes than if you breathe plug-in air fresheners day in and day out.

The oily film also ends up in the liver when it enters the bloodstream from the lungs. Plus we swallow air freshener when we breathe it in through our mouth, and that brings it to the intestinal tract, from which it enters the bloodstream and heads to the liver, where it can reduce liver function.

When the chemicals enter our bloodstream, our natural killer cells, lymphocytes, and other white blood cells absorb them, and that instantly weakens our immune cells and even kills some off. Our white blood cells need clean, fresh, oxygenated blood; with chemical scents, our white count becomes hindered. Exposure to a heavy dosage of air freshener or scented candle, or similar scent could mean three to four days of a weakened and lowered immune system. The synthetic scent chemicals can, at the same time, feed viruses and bacteria, allowing them to prosper and reproduce, leading to further illness. Someone who’s prone to urinary tract infections (UTIs), sinus infections, or flare-ups of fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, lupus, MS, eczema, psoriasis, or Hashimoto’s may experience a new flare-up following exposure (https://www.medicalmedium.com/blog/air-fresheners-scented-candles-are-toxic).”
