My ‘go to’ Sickness Protocol
Let’s face it, being sick or having to care for sick kids is a bummer. It is what it is. Everyone gets sick, it’s a part of life. So even though we have to endure a viral infection or whatever it is, we can certainly make ourselves get better faster and be just a tad more comfortable as we recover. The following is what I use for my family:
- Elderberry Syrup
- Garlic/Honey/Lemon/Onion Mixture (Provides loads of vitamin C) – Recipe Below
- Chest Rub (Made from essential oils)
- Diffuser on 24/hrs in every room with essential oils (specifically R.C., Thieves, Raven, Lavender, Frankincense, tree oils, and Eucalyptus oils)
- Rest as much as possible
- Detox Baths (Epsom Salt and baking soda but can add essential oils for a boost) – This helps your body remove toxins
- Lots of water with or without lemon
- Ginger Tea with honey and lemon (or on its own is fine)
- So a fever is our body’s defense system. It happens to kill all the bad guys that have invaded your internal state. So do not be alarmed. There are exceptions obviously and you should still refer to your healthcare practitioner for any personal needs. With that said, if there is a fever, I let it go without medication depending on the temp. I use Frankincense, peppermint, and lavender on spine and that usually alleviates and can even lower the fever. Usually within 24-48 hours it goes down on its own and recovery is much faster for us. If you have to use medication, opt for the Genexa brand. You can buy online or they carry it in certain drugstores as well.
Immune Boost Recipe
- 2 Tablespoons of honey
- 2 cloves of minced garlic
- 1 whole lemon
- 1 small onion (chopped into small pieces)
Put all the ingredients in a glass jar. Let it sit on the counter for half an hour to get all the juices from the ingredients. The take a teaspoon or tablespoon every other hour (depending on severity).
Hope this helps friend. I know getting sick is awful. So while this is something I do during an illness, to build the immune system I focus on avoiding as much sugar and processed junk. I make a lot of stock and have it frozen as well. Stay healthy and happy friends! Til next time.
